I recently graduated with a Master of Urban and Regional Planning and Design from the University of California, Los Angeles. I am a double-bruin graduate of UCLA, where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Environmental Studies.
My undergraduate and graduate coursework have given me a cohesive understanding of society, our natural and built environments, and the issues and challenges underpinning them. For example, an infrastructure that enables ease of movement by encouraging safe walkability and implementing efficient forms of public transportation limits the demand for personal vehicles, benefits the environment, de-segregates a city, and encourages more street life. Furthermore, the progressive construction of public spaces with community input and involvement that implements climate-appropriate solutions and values expression of self and the collective throughout an urban setting allows for a more connected, active, and healthier population.
I’ve had the joy of working in spaces driven to build capacity and strengthen ties between individuals and within communities. I firmly believe that grassroots movements that create systems and lay the foundations for positive change will lead our society into a more equitable and sustainable future.
I’ve been lucky to spend time in several of the world’s major cities, including Mexico City, New York City, London, Paris, Tokyo, and Cairo. Each offered a new perspective on what a city can be and what elements of society flourish or suffer. I look forward to furthering my urban design and planning education both in the classroom and the fabric of our cities.
